How Yaha Perfumes Came About
Discovery of the Craft of Scents
Hello my name is Rando Pikner. I'm an electrical engineer by training but I've been active in various fields like technology, contemporary art, landscape design, Burning Man.
I discovered the world of custom fragrances for myself in 2004 when I came across this small bottle of Indian attar named Ruh Khus 96 (the one on the right). Back then I didn't know that the scent inside the oil mix that captured my nose was vetiver.
I started to mix essential oils in 2011 when I found a tiny bottle of pure Sandalwood oil from a night market in a small mountain village in Taiwan (the one on the left).
So, the first blend I made was Ruh Khus & Sandalwood. And BOOM, I suddenly realized the magic of mixing scents.
People Got Curious About the Scents
Ever since I've collected essential oils during my travels to different countries in different continents.
I have found aromas that smell exotic, pleasant, intense, sweet, repelling, lovable, soothing, uplifting, arousing, calming, melancholic - you name it.
For the first 15 years I mixed oils and experimented with perfumes just for myself. Very few people know about my experiments.
At some point people started noticing the fragrances I was wearing. Some friends here and there started urging me to mix some scents for them too.
Going Systematic with Perfume Design
It was not until 2020 when I actually started to be more systematic about perfume design. And Yaha was born.
I'm using some of the purest natural essential oils straight from certified manufacturers in Europe and Asia. I also use man-made molecules as in many cases it's more environmentally friendly to synthesize than to abuse nature.
In 2021 I started gifting perfumes to people around me, whoever expressed her/his interest. Now I keep meeting people who resonate with the topic and either wish a signature perfume or to contribute into the project. I'm thankful!
